Heating and Air Conditioning

  • Pay attention to your thermostat settings
  • Install programmable thermostats or timers for better control of heating and air conditioning
  • Follow a routine maintenance schedule
  • Seal off unused areas and reduce or eliminate heating or cooling in these spaces
  • Keep exterior doors closed as much as possible


  • Install motion sensors or turn off lights when not needed
  • Install timers, time clocks, or photocells to ensure that interior and exterior lights are turned off at the appropriate times
  • Buy Energy Star qualified efficient replacement lamps
