The family owned San Diego based company started out manufacturing wooden boxes and crates in 1965 and has since expanded to offer an almost endless variety of transport packaging solutions. This variety in customizable product sets the company apart from its competition in the industrial packaging arena. Bob Eschwege, President and Owner of Valley Box, said,
“The box business isn’t real tricky. There is always competition coming up. So we decided to diversify into some other areas that are closely related to the box business, such as barrier bags and materials handling & tooling fixtures.”
While there may be a lot of companies out there that can manufacture wooden boxes, very few can compete with the wide variety of boxes, containers and custom material handling solutions as Valley Box.
Whether wood, metal, plastics, corrugate, plywood or industrial vinyl... Valley Box can create customized solutions to meet almost any design specification. Aside from being leaders in the industry for innovative products, Valley Box also puts customer service, costs and productivity at a top level priority. Eschwege comments,
"When it comes to efficiency, everything is tracked in terms of minutes not hours to construct a project. This helps focus on efficiency and tracking true production costs."

Container Refurbishing is also a popular service.
Old containers are given a full blown makeover, fully inspected by a Valley Box Packaging Expert, the broken panels and wall components are repaired, hardware is upgraded, and the entire container is repainted to make it look and function like new. Alicia Guillette, Vice President of Valley Box, said,
"An analysis is done and if repairing it less than 50% of the cost of a new container, Valley Box will refurbish the units. This is an environmentally friendly and cost effective solution for many customers."
Barrier Bags are another not often thought of solution. These are specialty made bags that are meant to preserve the contents of a package against damage from elements such as; dirt, dust, salt spray, grease, moisture, and other airborne contaminants.
Valley Box produces a wide variety of options available in styles ranging from envelope to gusseted. Products of concern are easily bagged and sealed, Guillette explains,
"in a properly controlled production environment, product will remain protected for 12 to 18 months."
The company has impressive custom fabrication capabilities, able to produce barrier bags large enough cover and entire house all the way down to a more basic envelope size.
Valley Box also offers Desiccants, these unique silica filled bags absorb water vapor from the air surrounding your product. This type of product is used to eliminate the harmful humidity that can potentially degrade or even destroy products that are moisture sensitive.
Valley Box, Desiccant Bags are ideal for protecting pharmaceuticals products, diagnostic equipment, electronics and food. The bags are durable and extremely strong, made for industrial level use and produce very high absorption rates.
Another option to guard against moisture issues is to use Humidity Indicator Cards. A Humidity Indicator Card or (HIC) is a card on which a moisture-sensitive chemical is impregnated such that it will change color when the indicated relative humidity is exceeded.
These cards can be placed inside your packaging and placed directly onto designated products. When these cards are used Quality Control Departments can easily check periodically to check the integrity of the product as well as the moisture prevention occurring within the package.
If opening your package is a concern, Valley Box can add custom Observation Ports with humidity indicators within the view to eliminate the need for opening. Creative packaging solutions like this assist customers when performing annual inspections to ensure the integrity of the long term storage preservation.
