Design Engineer
$35-$42/hr
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt
The purpose of this role in the organization is to lead the design and pricing of custom crating solutions across diverse industries including aerospace, defense, and heavy machinery. This position requires strong attention to detail, advanced SolidWorks proficiency, and the ability to independently manage complex projects while working cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, and Production.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Department – Design & Engineering
- Fully understand job requirements and responsibilities
- Develop custom crate designs using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Generate technical drawings and manufacturing documents
- Recommend material or structural improvements
- Create accurate project quotes using Excel and costing data
- Inspect finished products and ensure they meet build standards
- Maintain organized file systems for drawings and project notes
- Practice good housekeeping and organization of work area
- Responsible for the finished product of your department
Communication
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
- Communicate clearly with Sales and clients on project requirements
- Deliver timely updates on work status to Manager/Supervisor
- Find improvements and report to management
- Report quality issues to Manager
- Uphold a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
Special Training
- Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of the full manufacturing lifecycle
- Prior experience designing for manufacturing preferred
- 4 years Design Engineer experience required
- Ability to work independently and manage complex projects
Support other departments (as needed)
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams
- Month End support
- Any other duties deemed necessary by mgmt
